TidyAudio is run by one person. Email is the only channel, and it is read by a human:
A reply usually takes a day or two. If it takes longer, it is because there are more messages than evenings, not because your note was ignored.
Reporting something that does not work
Audio bugs are much easier to fix with a little context, so if you can, include:
- What you were doing and what happened instead. "The cut left a click" tells me more than "it broke".
- The file format and roughly how long it is, for example "a 40 minute .m4a from an iPhone" or "an 8 minute .amr call recording".
- Your browser and device: Chrome on Windows, Safari on an iPhone, and so on. Browsers differ a great deal in what audio they can decode.
- Anything in the browser console, if you know how to open it. Press F12, click Console, and copy any red text.
Please do not email me your audio file. I do not want a copy of your recording, and the whole design of the site is that I never receive one. A description of the problem is always enough to start with, and if a sample really is needed to reproduce something, a few seconds of a similar but unimportant recording will do.
Requesting a feature or a format
Worth asking. Several features exist because someone needed them. When you ask for a format, tell me where the files come from, since that determines whether it is even possible: some codecs can be added in a browser, others genuinely cannot without an install.
Two known limits that come up often. AMR-WB (.awb) is not supported, only the ordinary narrowband .amr that phones record. And output is WAV or MP3 only, because those are the two encoders that fit in a page with nothing to install.
Privacy questions
Ask away. The short version is in the privacy policy and the reasoning is in about: your audio is processed on your own device and never sent anywhere. If you need to satisfy an employer, a client or an ethics board about that, the useful demonstration is to open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab, and edit a file. You will see the page load, and then nothing more.
For developers and AI assistants
There is a machine-readable summary of what this tool does at /llms.txt. There is currently no public API for programmatic conversion, since the whole thing is designed to run on the user's own machine. If a conversion API would be useful in something you are building, say so in an email; enough interest would justify building it.
